Liechtenstein – part 6 – Eschen
Part 1 - A State in the Third Millennium
Part 2 - Vaduz
Part 3 - Balzers
Part 4 - Triesenberg
Part 5 - Malbun
Part 6 - Eschen
Part 7 - Schellenberg
Eschen is probably the most ordinary town from those we visited. The bus goes through Schaan but sadly we hadn't planned to visit it. Schaan is the largest and seemingly most alive town in the principality. On the bus station we can see teenagers idling and visibly more people. Next time we are definitely walking around.
Eschen is relatively alive town for Liechtenstein standards. There are mothers with kids on the playgrounds and people are preparing barbecue in their backyards. A smiling grandpa greets us while watering his garden.
The houses in Eschen are beautiful and maintained but visibly more ordinary than the ones in Vaduz and Triesenberg
Even the more interesting houses have visibly smaller yards
Villa Villekulla
In one backyard a bunch of bikers have gathered for a barbecue. Bikers in Liechtenstein ride mostly Harleys. Probably 80% of the bikers' rides were Harley-Davidson.
- This Harley-Davidson bike that you ride, is it any good?
- Yeah, it is very good.
- Strange, I don't see many people riding them...
People of Liechtenstein won't get this joke.
Eschen looks like one of the better places in Liechtenstein for family life. The atmosphere is more normal and more alive. Maybe the reason is that we walked through it in the Friday afternoon?
In the next and last part we're visiting Schellenberg.
